Karen Wilson

Hi there! I was born and raised in the Riverbend area (specifically, Alton, IL) so my ties run deep. I am a second-generation State Farm Agent. My passion for State Farm was first ignited as a child answering the phone for my dad who was an agent. In high school and college I worked weekends and summers in Dad's State Farm office. I learned how to become connected to customers and help them navigate the confusing world of insurance.

I went off to college and spent two great years at the University of Missouri-Columbia (Go Tigers!!) and then transferred to Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville. (Go Cougars!) I hold a degree in Elementary Education with a middle school endorsement and a Master's degree in educational administration. I taught in the Alton School district and was a middle school administrator before making a shift back to insurance in 2002. Although it may have seemed strange to others, I was coming back home to what I experienced growing up. Being able to educate others on strategies to manage their risks was more logical for me than others realized.

I live in Godfrey with my husband of 40+ years. We have three children and eight grandchildren, which is the highlight of my life!

When I have time, I like to travel. Having taught social studies - geography and history are my jam! I love the national parks. I also dabble in golf and love to cook and entertain.

I am very active and committed to the community. I am on the boards of Riverbend Growth Association, the local economic development and chamber of commerce; North Alton-Godfrey Business Council; Pride, Inc, a 55 year old community beautification organization; Lewis and Clark Community College Foundation; and Asbury Village, a retirement community. I have chaired the local Bucket Brigade that rallies teams together to paint homes for those who cannot and have co-chaired the Miles Davis Memorial Committee that raised money to erect a statue of Miles Davis in his birth town of Alton.
